osx tip: 10.3 client can’t get managed desktop from 10.2 server

Symptom:

a 10.3 client won’t use a 10.2 server as a netinfo server to provide authentication and managed desktop services.

In directory access, enable netinfo, and specify the ip address of the server. give it the tag “network.” Uncheck dhcp and broadcast. Authentication should be automatic.

In the netinfo manager, add the dir: /machines/server
add these properties:

ip_address: [ip address of server]
serves: ../network
name: server

reboot, and it should work.
