My Home Theater
From YwwgWiki
It took a long time to build my home theater -- 11 years, actually, from beginning to end. Here is the final setup, in chronological order. Much of it was paid for by my generous father. Thanks!
- Main Speakers - Paradigm Mini MKIIIs. These were bought for me in ninth grade (1994) by my dad. In the first week I knocked one over with my backpack, denting the corner. They've never been further damaged since.
- Subwoofer - Paradigm PDR10. Added in 1998 for college. Because in college, you need something that annoys people.
- Surrounds - Paradigm Atoms. Bought in 2000 as Room B speakers, since I was in my first apartment and needed separate speakers for the living room and the bedroom.
- Receiver - Outlaw Audio 1050. I quickly realized that I was only a center speaker short of a surround sound setup. I asked for the outlaw for Xmas 2000 but didn't expect to get it. I did.
- Center Speaker - Paradigm somethingorother. Bought in January 2001, although made cheaper by selling my now-unneeded stereo receiver. Full 5.1 setup complete.
- PVR - homebrew mythtv . 2003. I was bored, so I built this computer as a hobby project. It also plays all the Divx/Xvid files I could want.
- DVD - LG whoknowswhat. Upgraded in 2005 for HDMI support. I got an open-box LG dvd player at Best Buy and a new remote for free. Under a hundred bucks!
- HDTV Screen - Sony KDFE42A10. Bought 2005, chosen because it has VGA input and looks fantastic.
